What a difference a day makes. Yesterday was horrible weather and the conditions not the best and yet today it was calm, the sun shone and we could get out to our favoured Cod mark. After greeting our crew for the day we headed south out of the marina determined to catch some Cod. We had a big tide today and a North Westerly wind blowing at around 18kts. A comfortable cruise saw us arrive and with the anchor dropped the boat was sitting in a gentle swell in glorious sunshine. Read the rest of this entry »
Cod Fishing Brighton – 30th January 2010

Catch Report – 29th January 2010
Friday, January 29th, 2010 by Mick
We set off from the marina just after 8.30 giving a little extra time to assess the weather and the sea conditions and to allow a little extra time for the wind to calm down as last night it has been blowing upwards of 35mph. This gave us time to meet the crew for today and have a nice hot coffee before setting off.
The decision was made that we would not be venturing out to the usual Cod marks but we would motor out to a spot east of the marina where we could tuck in under the cliffs. This was really the only option today but it was worth fishing as it has been producing some nice cod weighing in up to and over 14lb. Read the rest of this entry »

Catch Report 24th January 2010
Sunday, January 24th, 2010 by Mick
We left Brighton Marina this morning at around 8.15am and being a little late off the mark due to the crews breakfast stop, which I hear was a really good fry-up, we steamed out to the fishing mark as we wanted to make the most of the tide before slack water. It seemed we had picked a popular spot today, when we arrived there were already a few boats with their anchors down and fishing. In fact, it resembled a car park! We carefully choose our spot so as to make the most of the rough ground, which is a favourite with the Cod this time of year. Read the rest of this entry »
Cod Fishing – 23rd January 2010
Saturday, January 23rd, 2010 by Mick
We spent yesterday afternoon down at Brighton marina potting around on the boat making sure all was tip top for tomorrow’s cod fishing trip. We headed home after getting battered by the wind changing the warp on the anchor chain but with the job done headed home.
After listening to the wind and the waves crashing on the beach last night we were thinking that we might not get out at all today. It was a matter of hoping that the forecast was right and that all would be calm by morning. Read the rest of this entry »
