Fishing in Brighton during March and April

BY Mick - UPDATED 04/03/2020

After a fantastic winter cod season which saw excellent quality fish ranging from 8lb up to over 20lb we are really excited about the fishing over the next couple of months.

All the boats in Brighton have been bringing in plenty of fish suppers.  Now with great anticipation, we are turning our attention to fishing for Pollack, which are already showing in good numbers and sizes out on the wrecks. The lure fishing really hails the start of spring and with it the variety of fish that you can catch offshore here.  Not only will you be catching Pollack but we will also be targeting ling, cod, congers, and bass.  We have already this year seen a good bass of over 10lb being brought aboard only a couple of miles offshore. (Bring it on!!!)

This said we still have lots to look forward to fishing on the ground.  We pride ourselves in being able to help you target the fish you are most interested for any given season and the keen anglers amongst you will also know that the ground fishing is also offering some great opportunities early in the year for species such as Plaice, Smoothhounds, Tope those beautiful bass and also the sort after cod.  Never is there a dull moment the seasons may change and the species differ but the fishing is always there to be had.   We feel very lucky here in Brighton to be getting so much of the action and even though we all know size does not matter (ahem, ahem) we have been able to boast fish well into double figures and we have only just started!
