After a busy weekend and a day off for good behaviour it was time to head out again. We are again targeting winter cod fishing on the ground.
South West winds and for the short trip out today we had wind with tide so everything was looking good for bringing a few decent cod on board.
We fished just 3.5 miles South of Brighton Marina and for the first couple of hours all was quiet. Not long after mid-day we were getting the usual flurry of whiting taking the bait almost as fast as we could drop it into the water.
After about half an hour things started to look up and the first cod was hooked, weighing in at 10lb.
From the time the first cod came on board they were being landed ever 2 or 3 minutes.
By the time we were ready to lift the anchor we had seen some lovely cod, the catch of the day weighing in at 18.5lbs.
We left for home with a happy crew one of which was Beth who was on her first ever fishing trip and had caught a number of whiting and a good 6.5lb cod.
Was a wonderful day out. Really pleased that i caught a cod on my first time fishing. I would recommend going out on this boat to anyone, whether they have previous fishing experience or not. 🙂
