Well, we’re still getting loads of summer Cod on the wrecks and I’ll do a post about that soon, but today we had rare catch indeed, a John Dory for Grey Viking and a rarity for Brighton and Sussex!
To put it in perspective we’ve had 5 John Dories aboard since 2008 and we’ve not seen a John Dory caught since 2011 !!
In fact, you hear about one or two of these stunning fish caught off the Sussex coast each year so it’s an unusual catch indeed. Every time we’ve caught a John Dory it’s been fishing with lures on the wrecks and this John Dory was no exception.
Weighing about 3lbs this superb John Dory was caught on a Blue/White Sidewinder lure in 200ft (60m) depth whilst drifting a wreck for Cod.
